Socialt arbete vid suicidalt beteende inom psykiatrisk hälso- och sjukvård i Skåne - tidigare och aktuell psykosocial forskning

Abstract

A suicide is a personal tragedy also representing a major societal loss. The problems behind suicide are multifaceted and interventions are needed in many different domains of society, including a strong need for new health strategies. Health care counsellors with their interdisciplinary education provide them to contribute to a multifactorial perspective on suicide in both clinical and research settings. The aim of this study is to present a psychosocial perspective on suicidality by giving examples of our own research on this issue with clinical implications for psychosocial work in health care. Our conclusion is that the psychosocial perspective provides a valuable contribution to understanding and treating suicidal individuals and providing support to their significant others.
